Overview
All about the Manaslu Circuit Trek
In 1991 the government permit to trek in around Manaslu Circuit Trek. It lies in Gorkha district. Mt. Manaslu is 8163meters and shares border with Tibet and Annapurna Trekking region. Because of restrictions, Manaslu circuit trek remain untouched for several years. In a season, around 2000 people visit Manaslu circuit trek which is very low as comparison with Annapurna and Everest Region trekking.
Manaslu circuit trek is a bit challenging not because of its trail but due of lack of camping facilities. But the scenic view is so mesmerizing that it one can surely forget difficult he had to bear. Enjoy the outstanding view of Mt. Manaslu and Annapurna range. Rich in both culture and bio diversity, see the lifestyle of indigenous people of remote village of people. And pleasure your eyes with lush green forest and landscapes. In ancient times, people follow this route for salt trading along with Budhi Gandaki river. After reaching highest point of Trek Larkya La, popularly know as Manaslu Conservation Area, includes sub tropical Himalayan foothills elongated to barren trans-Himalayan high pasture land that border with Tibet.
The 18-day Manaslu Circuit Trek is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to Nepal's more established routes, offering stunning views of 8,163m Mount Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal range while maintaining a quieter trail experience. This challenging trek follows the Budhi Gandaki River from lowland villages (starting around 700m) up to the dramatic 5,125m Larkya Pass, passing through diverse landscapes - from lush subtropical forests to high-altitude glaciers. The route showcases a fascinating blend of Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist cultures in traditional villages along the way. The toughest section involves crossing the snow-covered Larkya Pass (5,125m), which rewards trekkers with breathtaking mountain vistas before descending through alpine meadows to Bhimtang and connecting with the Annapurna Circuit route. While basic teahouses are available throughout, some choose to combine this trek with the remote Tsum Valley for deeper cultural immersion. Jatra Travels offers a carefully designed 18-days itinerary (including arrival/departure days) that balances adventure with cultural discovery in this spectacular but less-crowded Himalayan region.
Preparing for the Manaslu Circuit Trek
The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a challenging high-altitude adventure requiring good physical fitness - you should train with cardio exercises, hiking, and strength training before your trip.
